General
Information There is a 30-day grace period
for all bills from the due date. However, if a taxpayer fails to make payment
within the grace period he/she is subject to interest at the rate of 18% per year
(1 1/2% per month) from the due date. The
minimum interest charge on any delinquent tax bill is $2.00. The minimum
for a sewer assessment bill is $5.00. There is no minimum on a usage bill.

Real Estate Taxes Real estate bills are mailed
once a year in late June. If you are escrowed with a lender, they will typically
request the bill from us and no bill will be sent to you. If you do receive
a bill and are escrowed you may send it to them. Payments are due
quarterly, July 1, October 1, January 1, April 1.

Sewer Assessment This bill is also sent once a
year and is due the same time as the Real Estate bill. If the total
bill is less than $100 it will be due in full each July. Assessment bills
run for 18 years and are only due if there is a sewer line available to you and
it has not been paid off.

Sewer
Use Charges These charges are due if you are
connected to the sewer system. If you are not connected, you must file for an
extension to avoid paying a use charge. Please call 452-5050 to file for
an extension. Use bills are mailed every three months (typically August,
November, February and May) and are based on water consumption.

Motor Vehicle Taxes
Please register or
change your registration to Trumbull with DMV as soon as possible to ensure you
are billed properly. If you have moved within CT you will pay the town where
the car was registered on previous October 1. This bill is issued on July
1 of the following year. If you registered a car after October 1, 2001 you
will receive a bill in January 2003. MV bills are payable in July and January
if the total is over $100. Visit the Tax
Assessor's page for more information.

Fire Taxes Bills are sent from
one of three fire districts in July each year. Fire
